Egypt, Philippines Explore New Business Partnerships as Cairo Highlights Investment Opportunities

Egypt and the Philippines are seeking to expand economic and investment cooperation as Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a roundtable discussion with leading Filipino business executives and representatives of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry during his participation in the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Manila.

The meeting brought together representatives from both Egyptian and Filipino business communities, with discussions focused on strengthening private-sector partnerships, increasing trade and investment flows, and identifying new areas for joint projects.

Minister Abdelatty said Egyptian-Filipino relations are witnessing growing momentum, reflecting a shared political commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation. He described the Philippines as an important partner in Southeast Asia and emphasized Egypt’s interest in developing stronger economic and investment ties with the country.

During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s economic transformation in recent years, including structural reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, enhancing competitiveness and creating new opportunities for international investors.

He pointed to major national projects that have contributed to upgrading infrastructure and improving the business environment, while presenting investment opportunities in strategic sectors including the Suez Canal Economic Zone, renewable energy, food industries, logistics, tourism and the digital economy.

The minister stressed that Egypt’s geographic position provides investors with a competitive advantage, describing the country as a gateway to African and Arab markets and a strategic platform for expanding regional business operations.

Abdelatty also emphasized the Egyptian government’s commitment to strengthening the role of the private sector as a key partner in economic development. He called for deeper cooperation between Egyptian and Filipino companies, greater business-to-business engagement and the establishment of joint ventures that serve the interests of both countries.

The foreign minister reaffirmed Egypt’s focus on expanding relations with Asian economies and strengthening cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), highlighting the region’s growing economic importance and the opportunities available for increased trade and investment partnerships.

During the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to enhance cooperation between business communities in both countries.

The roundtable also featured an interactive discussion between Minister Abdelatty and representatives of major Filipino companies, who raised questions about Egypt’s investment environment, economic reforms and incentives available to foreign investors.

The minister assured participants that Egyptian authorities are prepared to provide support and address challenges facing companies interested in entering the Egyptian market.

Filipino business leaders and representatives of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed Egypt’s economic progress and reform efforts, expressing interest in exploring new investment opportunities and strengthening commercial ties between the two business communities.
