Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hano, announced a sweeping package of cultural initiatives, unveiling a national strategy to modernize cultural palaces, launch a “Digital Culture Palace,” and revive the country’s film industry during the second edition of Egypt’s Culture Day celebration.

Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Supreme Council of Culture at the Cairo Opera House, Hano thanked President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi for his continued support of culture, saying it reflects the political leadership’s belief in culture as a cornerstone of national identity and public awareness.

The event, attended by Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy, honored 104 Egyptian creators across intellectual and artistic fields.

Hano said the national strategy for developing cultural palaces aims to discover talent nationwide, upgrade infrastructure, train cultural workers, empower youth and expand access to cultural services. He also announced the upcoming launch of the Digital Culture Palace as an open online platform to make cultural and artistic content accessible to all citizens.

As part of a comprehensive plan to revive Egyptian cinema, the minister revealed a project to redevelop state-owned cinematic assets into modern production hubs while preserving and digitizing Egypt’s film heritage. He also announced the return of the National Egyptian Cinema Festival in its silver jubilee after years of suspension.

Additional initiatives include a national program to boost cultural and artistic activity at universities and the launch of a National School Theater Festival to discover young talent.
