On Thursday, Jordan’s Minister of Culture, Haifa'a Najjar, expressed her excitement about Egypt being chosen as the guest of honor at the 37th edition of the Jerash festival, stating that it will be a remarkable choice.

Najjar made her remarks during a meeting with her Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Nevin Kilani, at the Royal Cultural Center (RCC) in Amman, Jordan.

The two ministers celebrated their countries' longstanding bilateral relations and discussed ways to deepen cultural relations and expand cultural industries.

Kilani expressed gratitude to Jordan for choosing Egypt as the first guest of honor and acknowledged the large Jordanian participation in cultural and artistic events in Egypt.

Kilani also mentioned that the Jordanian-Egyptian cultural exchange agreement was renewed last year, paving the way for future joint activities and the exchange of translation expertise.

In turn, Najjar highlighted the importance of cultural relations in strengthening historic bilateral ties and praised joint cooperation in the heritage field. She also acknowledged Egypt's role in supporting Jordan's UNESCO programs.

The Jerash Festival, which has been held annually since 1981, features singing performances, folkloric dances, opera performances, and traditional handicrafts.
