Egypt Foils Turkish- Brotherhood Plot against National Security

Egyptian security forces arrested on Wednesday four persons, three of them are members of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group, suspected of running a suspicious media outlet central Cairo, according to an official statement by the Ministry of Interior.

“In the context of uncovering plots schemed by the terrorist group of the Muslim Brotherhood and its sponsoring countries, the National Security Apparatus figured out that a Turkish cyber media committee is renting an apartment at Bab El Luk neighborhood as a center for its hostile activity,” the statement read. 

The Turkish outlet was using the alias of “SETA Center for Studies”. It’s founded by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group for the purpose of making negative reports on Egypt.

Turkey helped establish the Brotherhood Studies’ Center in Cairo. 

All reports made by that suspicious center contain wrong and mistaken pieces of information at human rights, security and economic levels, according to the statement. “The Turkish bureau’s chief is named Edogan Othman Balk.”

After obtaining a permission from the Supreme State Security Prosecution, the aforementioned headquarters was broken into.

Many computers, mobile phones and some sums of money were also found in local and foreign currencies. Legal measures have been taken, and the Supreme State Security Court is investigating.

The four persons arrested include three Egyptians and a Turkish national.

  • Administrative Director Hussein Abdel Fattah Muhammad Abbas (Egyptian/ Member of the Muslim Brotherhood group)
  • Copy Writer Hussein Mahmoud Ragab El-Kabany (Egyptian/ Member of the Muslim Brotherhood group)
  • Assistant Financial Director Abdel Salam Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim  (Egyptian/ Member of the Muslim Brotherhood group)
  • Ankara's ties with Cairo have been poor since the Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan explicitly announced his country’s support to the Muslim Brotherhood which is labeled as a terrorist group in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Russia since 2013. The terrorist group is an ally of Erdogan.
