A French documentary film revealed how Qatar is funding the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group in Europe. The film is written by an investigative journalists George Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot. Both journalists are prominent experts in political Islam and the Middle East region.

The 91-minute documentary was aired on the Franco-German television station ARTE on September 17 under the title of “Qatar, guerre d’influence sur l’Islam d’Europe (Qatar’s War of Influence over Islam in Europe).

Earlier this year, a fascinating book was published called Qatar Papers: How the State Finances Islam in France and Europe. Therefore, the documentary was inspired by that book.

Qatari Officials’ Laundering Money in France

The documentary claims that Qatari officials have been laundering money to members of terrorist organizations under the guise of sponsoring mosques, Islamic centers and schools.

The list of donors includes Qatari royal family members Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Thani, Saud Jassim Ahmed Al Thani, and Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani.

The film disclosed how much influence Qatar exerts within Europe, funding a conglomerate of Islamist projects that all trace back to the Doha-based Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood group is banned in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Moscow and other countries across the world thanks to its terrorist acts and extremist behaviors.

The documentary is not the first significant work by Malbrunot and Chesnot. Malbrunot reported on the Middle East for Le Figaro. Chesnot is a member of the editorial staff of the public radio France Inter. Both men are fluent in Arabic.

In 2004, while reporting on the war in Iraq, they were kidnapped and held hostage for 124 days by an armed group calling itself the Islamic Army of Iraq. They were freed through the efforts of French and Syrian intelligence services and since then have written several books devoted to the Middle East, including “Qatar Papers.”

Qatar’s Influence in France via Muslim Brotherhood

The documentary showcases how Qatari royals and officials have been laundering money and funding the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations in European countries including Italy, France, Germany, and the UK.

According to Malbrunot and Chesnot, a Qatar Charity has been used to fund the terrorist group of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Qatari NGO was founded in 1992 and is now active in several countries.

In France, the Doha-sponsored charity owns An-Nour Center (Center An-Nour) in Mulhouse, eastern the country and near the Swiss and German borders.

Qatar has been accused of using charitable institutions to fund extremism in Europe in a new documentary released by Arte Channel. (Shutterstock).

The center includes a two-story mosque, a library, a restaurant, a halal-food market, a swimming pool, classrooms and a medical center as well.

According to the newly revealed secret documents, which range from checks and money transfers to official letters and correspondences, the Qatar Charity used its influence to finance 140 projects across Europe, most of which were linked, in one way or another, to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The journalists met with Qatar Charity under the guise that they were potential investors. Using hidden cameras, they filmed an official who told them that the organization has been funding projects in Europe, and was looking to fund a big project in London.
