The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has issued an official statement denying reports circulating on social media and certain news platforms that alleged the disappearance of five artefacts and the damage of another at the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria.

According to the ministry, the claims are “entirely unfounded,” affirming that all artefacts, whether on public display or held in storage, remain intact and in good condition.

The statement added that museum staff had conducted a thorough review of both stored collections and displayed items, confirming that no losses or damage had been recorded.

The ministry further emphasized that all archaeological pieces are safeguarded under strict preservation and conservation measures, ensuring their security and proper maintenance.

Concluding its statement, the ministry called on media outlets and social media users to verify information through official sources before publication, warning against spreading false claims that may create unnecessary public concern or cast doubt over the security of Egypt’s cultural heritage.
