Egypt Condemns Israeli Settler Attacks in West Bank, Calls for Decisive Int'l Action

Egypt condemned on Sunday the Israeli settler attacks against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank, affirming its complete rejection of all acts of violence and violations targeting the Palestinian people, and calling on the international community to take decisive measures to stop these attacks.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the escalating settler attacks and the violence and intimidation witnessed in West Bank villages—including the burning of homes, property, and religious sacred sites, as well as assaults on civilians.

It considered these practices an extension of policies that inflame tensions and undermine the chances of achieving peace and stability.

Moreover, Egypt emphasized that the violence committed by settlers against Palestinians constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the Geneva Conventions.

Furthermore, it explicitly violates international legitimacy resolutions, most notably UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegality of settlements and demands their immediate and complete cessation.

Egypt also called upon the international community and key global actors to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and to take decisive action to halt settler attacks and provide protection for the Palestinian people.

Additionally, Egypt stressed the importance of building upon the stated position of U.S. President Donald Trump, who rejects the annexation of Palestinian lands or the displacement of Palestinians from their territory.

It also reiterated the necessity of continuing efforts aimed at de-escalation, improving humanitarian conditions, and creating the necessary environment to resume the political process toward achieving a fair and comprehensive peace.
