 Egypt, China to Build Satellite Centre in New Administrative Capital

Egypt is currently striving towards its 2030 strategy in order to be among the developed countries, especially in the field of education. The current year is focuses on education. The most important files, which the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is working are the Satellite Collecting and Testing Center located in the new administrative capital in cooperation with China. .

Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said that the center will help send data and satellite images to environmental applications, identify agricultural areas and combat desertification. He stressed strategic relations with China, especially in the information technology and scientific research fields.

The project aims to transfer Chinese technology in the field of satellites to serve the purposes of research projects and remote sensing. The minister added that this project will make Egypt take an important step in the field of scientific research and technology as well as using modern technologies to serve Egyptian national projects in the upcoming years. .

The construction of the Center's headquarters is currently being completed by the establishing specialized satellite test facilities, the engineering model plant, the main building for the assembly and testing of satellites and its annexes, which include the space room for astronauts and an oxygen chamber as a simulation model in space, The building also has a mechanical vibration chamber.

In January, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research signed an agreement with the Chinese side to establish the "AIT" as the first specialized satellite gathering and testing center in the Arab region and the second at the international level.

The center was also established as part of the Egyptian Space Program of the National Remote Sensing Authority, which is responsible for the localization of satellite technology. It includes a number of the latest technology in the field of space science and remote sensing, and will be the first of its kind at the Middle East and African levels. It will serve the Egyptian Space Agency and a number of Egyptian national projects, implemented by Egypt in the current period.
