Egypt and Italy Call for De-escalation and Peaceful Settlement of Conflicts

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a telephone call from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international developments.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the longstanding relationship between Egypt and Italy and called for continued efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The president stressed the importance of expanding trade and investment cooperation in a way that serves their shared interests. He also called for greater Italian investment in the Egyptian market, citing the opportunities available across several sectors.

Meloni agreed on the need to develop relations between Egypt and Italy in all fields, including trade and investment.

The two leaders also discussed continued coordination in addressing irregular migration.

Their talks covered a range of regional and international issues, with both sides stressing the need to prevent further escalation and settle disputes through peaceful means.

El-Sisi and Meloni agreed to maintain political consultation and coordination between Cairo and Rome in support of regional peace and stability.

The Italian prime minister also expressed her hope to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity.
