President of Cairo University Dr. Mohamed Osman Al-Khosht said that the development works of university hospitals are one of the most important national projects that serve a large number of patients.
He added that the development works of such hospitals are being carried out in parallel with many other projects implemented by the university according to the latest means of technology and systems.
He stressed the importance of developing Al-Qasr Al Aini hospitals that are considered as a safe haven for many patients, pointing out to the current renovation works estimated at EGP 5 billion in order to reduce the waiting lists of patients and provide medical services at the highest level, as part of the university's plan to leap towards transforming into third-generation universities.
Dr. Al-Khosht added that the development project of Al-Qasr Al-Aini university hospitals includes the modernization and expansion of emergency units, in addition to increasing its capacity on a self-financing basis from the Cairo University estimated at EGP 130 million.
He confirmed that such development projects are being implemented upon directives from the political leadership to eliminate the patients' congestion in a number of hospitals including, Manial Specialized Hospitals, and the National Cancer Institute.
He explained that the development works will also include Children's University Hospital in Munira Abu A-Reesh Japanese Children Hospital and the outpatient clinics which are expected to reduce waiting lists and overcrowding of patients.
Dr. Al-Khosht also pointed out to the comprehensive development of the Educational Dentistry Hospital and the University Hospital For Students in Giza.
It is noteworthy that Qasr Al-Aini University Hospitals received about 7 million and 300 thousand patients during the last year.
