The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has mourned on Saturday the death of its former spokeman Azmy Megahed, who passed away earlier today.
Earlier on Saturday, Amir Azmy, his son, announced that his father died after contracting coronavirus.
"The Egyptian Football Association's board of directors, headed by Amr El Ganiny, mourns the death of Azmy Megahed, who passed away today," the EFA said in a statement.
Azmy was on of the volleyball's stars in Zamalek and Egypt's national team as he won the best African player award in 1974.
Months ago, he had announced that he intends to run for the Zamalek's presidential elections.
