Netflix on Monday announced "One Shot with Ed Sheeran", an experimental new musical experience helmed for the streamer by Philip Barantini, the Emmy winner behind its visually audacious drama Adolescence.
Coming to Netflix on November 21, the groundbreaking, one-shot experience will see multi-Grammy Award winner Sheeran take viewers on a mesmerizing journey during one afternoon in real time as he travels the streets of New York City, performing his greatest hits.
Sheeran's journey across New York will document a number of remarkable moments, pandemonium and excitement that follow, from spontaneous performances on busy sidewalks and subway vehicles to close encounters with fans and bystanders.
The project hails from Fulwell Entertainment and Emmy-winning producer Ben Winston, who exec-produced alongside Sheeran and Barantini.

News of the project follows Adolescence‘s impressive performance at the Emmys, where it won eight awards from 13 nominations, including Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series.
Wrestling with a 13-year-old’s murder of a female classmate, and the profound impact it has on both his family and his community, the series was of course lauded for its stunning choice of format — the same one that "One Shot with Ed Sheeran" adopts — whereby each episode was shot as a “oner,” or continuous, uninterrupted, one-take sequence, with no cuts or edits to further shape it.
The series starred newcomer Owen Cooper as the young boy, Jamie Miller, and co-creator Stephen Graham as his father, with Emmys awarded to both for their performances.
Making a massive cultural impact, the show currently sits at #2 on Netflix’s Most Popular TV list, with 142.6M views and counting.
Coming off the September release of his eighth studio album, "Play," the English singer-songwriter is gearing up to head out on his sixth concert tour, "The Loop Tour," which kicks off in Paris, France on December 1st and will run for nearly a year.
Up next for Barantini, who won his first pair of Emmys, recognizing his dual role as director and executive producer of Adolescence, apart from the Sheeran experience, is the release of the Millie Bobby Brown-led Enola Holmes 3, also for Netflix.
A 13-time Emmy winner, Fulwell’s Winston rose to prominence as the executive producer and co-showrunner of "The Late Late Show" with James Corden, where he helped develop viral hits like Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk the Musical.
Other credits include The 67th Annual Grammy Awards, A Grammy Salute to Earth, Wind & Fire Live: The 21st Night of September, and An Evening with Elton John and Brandi Carlile.
