Paramount Pictures unveiled Monday new trailer for "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves".
It is based on the 1974 fantasy tabletop role-playing game, "Dungeons & Dragons from Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast", which uses multi-sided dice in gameplay and is overseen by a host known as the Dungeon Master.
The game was first adapted to theaters in 2000, starring Jeremy Irons, Marlon Wayans, and Thora Birch.
It was poorly received by fans and critics as well as was unable to convince the non-player audience the trip to theaters was worth their time.
The upcoming movie will follow a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers as they embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic. Things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
It stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head, Hugh Grant, and Jason Wong.
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are directing for Paramount and eOne, having adapted the screenplay with Michael Michael Gilio. The script is based on a story by Chris McKay and Gilio, which was itself based on Hasbro’s game.
Jeremy Latcham, Brian Goldner, and Nick Meyer are producing, with Denis L. Stewart, Goldstein, Daley, Pine, Zev Foreman, and Greg Mooradian serving as executive producers.
"Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" is set for release on March 31.
