British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa announced Wednesday on Instagram her highly-anticipated third studio album, "Radical Optimism".
The Instagram post included a photo of Lipa floating in the ocean with what appears to be a shark fin approaching her, but despite how terrifying the scenario sounds, the photograph is serene and peaceful, backdropped by the calming colors of a hazy sunset or sunrise — perhaps serving as a visual aide to the project’s title.
The 11-track project is Lipa’s first proper LP since 2020’s "Future Nostalgia" and is set to arrive on May 3.
The English singer-songwriter has already released two singles from the project: “Houdini” and “Training Season.”
In addition to the release date and cover, Dua has also shared Radical Optimism‘s tracklist, featuring titles such as “End of an Era”, “French Exit”, “Maria”, and “Happy for You.” As of now, it appears that the record has no collaborations.
“A couple years ago, a friend introduced me to the term ‘radical optimism,'” she said in a statement about the album. “It’s a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life.”
“It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm,” she added. “At the same time, I found myself looking through the music history of psychedelia, trip hop and Britpop. It has always felt so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude is a feeling I took into my recording sessions.”
