Dozens of Students Arrested over Protests against Erdogan

The mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu announced that the Turkish police have detained 159 protesters on Monday after protesting against Erdogan's appointment of a new rector for Bogazici University in Istanbul.

Started early this month, Bogazici students took to the streets opposing Erdogan's interference in appointing a new rector of the university calling this decision an "undemocratic" act.

Moreover, a number of the university's staff members joined the protesters on Monday, condemning the violent arrest of university students.

Therefore, Imamoglu said that dozens of protesters have been arrested investigations will be conducted.

However, he noted that he would host the university students and listen to their voices.

He also revealed that he will discuss this crisis with the authorities.
