Turkish Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül considered President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's talk about the possibility of moving to prepare a new constitution for the country, "good news for everyone."

In a tweet, Gul said: "The talk of our country's president about the new constitution, good news for all of us."

He added: "Preparing a new, civil and democratic constitution, which is one of the main goals of our legal reform, will be the most valuable legacy we leave for our future and our children."

On Monday evening, Erdogan announced that it is possible to move to prepare a new constitution in the next stage if an understanding is reached with their partner in the People's Alliance (the National Movement Party).

The Turkish President said in a speech after chairing a government meeting in the Presidential Complex in Ankara that the time may have come to discuss a new constitution for Turkey.

Erdogan stressed the need for "constitution drafting to be transparent, and for it to be presented to the appreciation of the people."
