Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk is set to be honored at the opening ceremony of the 2nd Master International Film Festival (MIFF), in Yasmine Hammamet City, Tunisia.

Zarrouk is honored for being one of the Tunisian stars who shined outside of the country.

The MIFF will return for a second edition on May 6-13, opening with the 2022 Indian movie "Chhello Show" or "Last Film Show", directed by Ban Nalin.

Directed by Pan Nalin, ‘Chhello Show’ is a Gujarati-language coming-of-age drama about a nine-year-old boy, Samay (Bhavin Rabari), who is ensnared by the magic of cinema and sets forth to fulfill his celluloid dreams.

It stars Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval, and Paresh Mehta. The film premiered at the 20th Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021 and was theatrically released in India in October 2022.

The festival will honor several Tunisian and Arab filmmakers in the tribute section, namely Egyptian iconic actress Yousra, Salma Baccar, Fathi El Hadawi, and Férid Boughedir.

Zarrouk, born on January 13, 1980, made her way into the acting industry by joining a theater group, where her first appearance was in the play “Magnoun” (Crazy), directed by Tawfiq Al Gibally, which was followed by several roles at the Tunisian cinema.

She also worked in many international projects such as “Collosseum” which was directed by the English director Telman Reem in 2003, where she portrayed the Emperor’s consort.

Zarrouk also took part in another foreign work titled “Louisa’s Journey” which was directed by French director Patrick Foulsan in 2005, where she portrayed the role of a woman named “A’isha” in that work.

The 43-year-old actress has been participating in Egyptian cinematic works since 2007.

Zarrouk is best known for her roles in the 2017 film “Tisbah ala Khair”, in the 2016 film “Mawlana”, and the 2016 film “Kedbet Kol Youm”.
