Disney has unveiled the teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action remake of “Snow White.”
Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White and Gal Gadot play The Evil Queen, who were both on hand at D23 to address the crowd.
“It’s been the honor of a lifetime,” Zegler said of taking on the princess role. “I think any young person, any little girl if you get to put on a Disney princess dress and be her for a day let alone six months… it’s just been the most amazing experience and I cant wait to share it with you all.”
“It was a lot of fun to get to do something that is completely different than anything I’ve ever done before,” Gadot said of playing the iconic Evil Queen. “She’s delicious, she’s evil, she’s magical. We got to sing all these different songs. It was incredible.”
The original movie, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” was released in 1937 and was Disney’s first feature-length animated movie.
It follows young Snow White, who flees the castle after her stepmother, the Evil Queen, becomes so jealous of her beauty that she orders the Huntsman to kill her. The Huntsman fails to do so, and Snow White escapes to a cottage where she finds seven dwarves.
Discovering that Snow White is still alive, the Evil Queen visits her at the cottage and gives her a poisoned apple. Upon being poisoned, Snow White is later awoken by a prince’s true love’s kiss.
The cast and team behind the remake have promised an updated version of the classic fairy tale.
Zegler previously said that this new iteration will not be as focused on the romantic subplot but instead will show Snow White become the leader her father encouraged her to be.
Marc Webb directs “Snow White” from a script co-written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Ansu Kabia stars as the Huntsman, and Andrew Burnap plays the new role of Jonathan. The Seven Dwarfs have been reimagined for the remake.
Although songs from the original movie will be featured, songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have also crafted new songs for the reimagining.
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is set to debut on March 21, 2025.
