"Dexter: Resurrection Renewed for Season 2

"Dexter: Resurrection,” the third spinoff of the crime series "Dexter," has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+.

The sequel series features Michael C. Hall reprising his role as TV’s favorite serial killer.

Hall thanked fans in a video posted to YouTube and teased, “There’s more to come. The writers room is assembling now, and details will be forthcoming … the story continues.”

The renewal comes after it was reported in August that Paramount+ planned to open a writers room for a potential Season 2 of the series.

The other “Dexter” spinoff, the prequel series “Original Sin” starring Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter, had a less fortunate fate.

After the show was renewed for Season 2 in April, the streamer reversed its decision and canceled the series a few months later, following Paramount’s merger with Skydance.

“Dexter: Resurrection” premiered in July to 4.4 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days.

In addition to Hall, the show stars Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, James Remar and Peter Dinklage.

Season 1 also featured recurring actors including Eric Stonestreet and David Magidoff, as well as guest stars like Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian and John Lithgow reprising his role as the Arthur Mitchell aka the Trinity Killer.

After an eight-season run on Showtime, “Dexter” ended in 2013 and respawned with the 2021 miniseries “Dexter: New Blood.”

A few years later, “Dexter: Original Sin” premiered, with Hall reprising the role of Dexter in a voice acting capacity. Then, Hall suited back up as the serial killer on-screen in the sequel series “Resurrection.” A spinoff prequel series based on the Trinity Killer was announced to be in development last year.

“Resurrection” is created by Clyde Phillips, the original showrunner of “Dexter,” and produced by his Clyde Phillips Productions, Counterpart Studios and Showtime Studios.

Executive producers include Phillips, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Hilly Hicks, Jr., John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns and Hall.
