The release date for Universal Pictures and Illumination's highly-anticipated animated movie “Despicable Me 4” has been unveiled.
The fourth installment in the animated, family-friendly franchise is coming to theaters on July 3, 2024.
Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan will return for the next chapter.
Chris Renaud, who helmed the first two “Despicable Me” movies in the franchise, is back to direct.
Renaud will direct alongside Patrick Delage from a script by Mike White. Illumination founder Chris Meledandri will produce.
The Despicable Me franchise launched in 2010 and follows Gru, a reformed super-villain, and his yellow-colored Minions and his trio adopted girls.
Moreover, Illumination and Universal will release an original animated movie about a family of ducks, titled “Migration", on June 30, 2023.
The movie is a modern-day comedy following a family of ducks who convince their over-protective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime as they attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City, and ultimately down to the Bahamas.
Benjamin Renner will direct from a script penned by White. It will be produced by Meledandri.
Next for the franchise, is the second “Despicable Me” spinoff, “Minions: The Rise of Gru”.
The spinoff is set to hit theaters on July 1 after being delayed two years by the Coronavirus pandemic.
It follows Gru’s childhood exploits, attempting to join a supervillain team called the Vicious 6.
The voice cast includes Carell, Coffin, Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, and Alan Arkin.
