Demi Moore has boarded Amazon MGM’s new culinary thriller “Tyrant,” starring Charlize Theron and Julia Garner.
The Oscar-nominated star of “The Substance” has landed a key role in the project.
The film is described as a high-stakes thriller set within New York City’s elite fine dining scene.
David Weil (“Hunters,” “Invasion”) directs the project from a script he co-wrote that was based on a story he conceived with Cody Behan.
“Tyrant” will film in Los Angeles, having received a California Film Tax Credit with cameras set to roll in a few weeks.
The Picture Company partners Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona will produce “Tyrant” along with Theron and her Secret Menu partners Beth Kono and A.J. Dix.
Weil will also produce with producing partner Natalie Laine Williams, and Stan Wlodkowski will serve as executive producer.
Moore is coming off an incredible run from “The Substance,” having delivered a career-best performance as a fading star who turns to a mysterious drug to reclaim her youth and glory.
She nabbed a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award in the process and will next be seen in Boots Riley’s “I Love Boosters” in late May. Moore is also part of the Taylor Sheridan TV universe, appearing on the top-rated series “Landman.”
