Warner Bros. unveiled Monday the final trailer for DC's highly-anticipated movie "Blue Beetle".

The movie was originally conceived for HBO Max, but then the studio pivoted to a theatrical release before production began.

It stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, Raoul Max Trujillo as antagonist Carapax the Indestructible Man, Adriana Barraza as Jaime’s grandmother, Nana, Damían Alcázar as his father, Elpidia Carrillo as his mother, and Belissa Escobedo as Jaime’s sister, Milagro, George Lopez as Jaime’s Uncle Rudy, Bruna Marquezine as Jenny Kord, and Harvey Guillén as Dr. Sanchez.

The movie also features Oscar winner Susan Sarandon as the villainous Victoria Kord, an original character made for the movie.

Despite Kord being an original character, her last name certainly rings a bell for the man who donned the alien suit before Reyes was Ted Kord, a genius scientist and occasional member of the Justice League.

"Blue Beetle" is centered around Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes (Maridueña) who gains strange armor and superpowers when an alien scarab-like machine fuses with his spine.

It follows recent college grad Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.

The upcoming movie is based on characters from DC and marks the first live-action feature to be made about a Latinx character by Latinx filmmakers as well as the latest DC superhero to make come to big screens.

Angel Manuel Soto directs off a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. John Rickard and Zev Foreman are producing, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman, and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.

The DC superhero movie was developed under the Walter Hamada run era of the studio. In DC canon, Blue Beetle is amigos with Booster Gold, another DC character who DC bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn are developing a TV series around.

"Blue Beetle" hits theaters on Aug. 18 and will be available to be seen in Imax.
