Season two of AMC's "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol" is set to release in the summer of 2024.
Set after The Walking Dead finale, the spinoff series follows Daryl ( Norman Reedus) washing ashore in France, where the zombie outbreak originated, and tries to return home while forming connections with new characters.
"The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" also stars Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laïka Blanc-Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Adam Nagaitis.
"Daryl Dixon" season 2 should see the titular character remain in Europe, where he will likely become entangled in the conflict between the opposing factions in France, Pouvoir des Vivants (Power of the Living) and Union de L'Espoir (Union of Hope).
Reedus reunited once again with Melissa McBride, who plays Carol Peletier, in the upcoming season.
It was initially planned for the first season to feature the character, with the spinoff titled "The Walking Dead: Daryl & Carol".
However, due to scheduling issues involving McBride, she was mostly written out of the first season. "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" season 1 ending featured a cameo from Carol.
McBride will return as a series regular in season 2, hence it is subtitled "The Book of Carol", thus returning to the show's original concept.
McBride and Reedus’ characters are longtime favorites of the show’s viewers. Both actors starred in the flagship show throughout its 11-season run. They were originally slated to appear in a spinoff together, but it was announced in 2022 that McBride was exiting the show.
Reedus has previously teased her return, however, saying that Carol is “a very big part of Daryl’s story.”
“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” McBride said.
“Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”.
David Zabel serves as showrunner and executive producer. Both Reedus and McBride also executive produce along with Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Steve Squillante.
