English actor Daniel Radcliffe addressed speculation about his appearance in the forthcoming Harry Potter TV series at Max.

In an interview with ComicBook, the actor opened up about the Max series and confirmed the chances are pretty low.

“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh, and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere," he noted. “So, I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way,”.

"The Lost City" star explained that he wishes his successor all the luck in the world.

“I’m very excited to have that torch passed, but I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it,” he added.

HBO Max, now rebranded as Max, and its then-parent company WarnerMedia started exploring a potential Harry Potter TV series a couple of years ago.

In January 2021, it was reported that a Harry Potter series was in the works at then-HBO Max.

The series officially moved forward at HBO Max back in April. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced the plans for the live-action series during a presentation about how HBO Max and Discovery+ would be integrated after the merger.

The project is based on J.K. Rowling’s best-selling book series, which consists of seven novels.

The series is produced by Warner Bros Television. Each season will be based on one of the books in the franchise, with Warner Bros. Discovery describing the show as a “decade-long series”. It will feature an entirely new cast from the movies.

Max will produce in association with Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. Rowling will executive produce along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.
