Sony Pictures Classics announced Tuesday that the indie drama "Daddio", starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, will be released on June 28.

Marking the feature directorial debut of Christy Hall, who also penned the script, Daddio World premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival before going on to screen in Toronto.

The pic is described as a character study, that explores the complexities of human connection and how an encounter with a total stranger can change a person’s life.

"Daddio" is centered around a young woman, who lands at JFK airport in New York City and rides into a yellow taxi of a driver called Clark.

Johnson and Ro Donnelly produced via their TeaTime Pictures, alongside Hercules Film Fund, First Love Films, Raindrop Valley, Projected Picture Works, and Rhea Films. Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Hall, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, and Terry Dougas also served as producers.

Exec producers are Jean-Luc De Fanti, Max Work, Kostas Tsoukalas, and Christopher Donnelly. The film was financed by the Hercules Film Fund.

In addition to the first chapter of Kevin Costner’s "Horizon: An American Saga" and Paramount’s "A Quiet Place: Day One", "Daddio" is set to open against Cohen Media Group’s "June Zero" and Sideshow Releasing’s "Last Summer".
