Working Title Films has acquired rights to Kirsten King’s debut novel "A Good Person", with Daisy Edgar-Jones attached to produce the movie adaptation.
King is adapting the script, with Edgar-Jones and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner producing.
The novel will be published on March 31 and follows Lillian, a vengeful and jilted lover who gets more than she bargained for after she performs a drunken hex on her ex-situationship who actually ends up dead.
Working Title Films is developing the project, with Elinor Kahn, Director of Development LA, running point.
Best known on the film side for roles in films like "Twisters" and "Where the Crawdads Sing," Edgar-Jones was BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated for her lead role opposite Paul Mescal in Hulu’s "Normal People," also garnering a Golden Globe nomination for her work on "Under the Banner of Heaven".
Working Title Films, co-chaired by Bevan and Fellner, has created more than 130 films that have grossed over $9 billion at the global box office, winning 15 Oscars.
Recent films include Kate Winslet’s "Goodbye June," Coralie Fargeat’s "The Substance," and "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy".
Its upcoming productions include "Crime 101' starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan and Monica Barbaro; "Pressure" starring Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser; The "Sheep Detectives" starring Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson; "Positano" starring Matthew McConaughey and Zoe Saldaña; "Werwulf" starring Lily-Rose Depp and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and "Sense and Sensibility" also starring Edgar-Jones.
