Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, Dr. Khaled Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, and a number of ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries will witness the closing of the activities of the ninth edition of " Aswan International Festival for Culture and Arts".
The festival will be held on Monday 21 February in front of Abu Simbel temple to celebrate the sun’s perpendicular on the face of King Ramses II. Then, they will move to "The market square" in Aswan.
The announcement was stated by the artist Hisham Atwa, head of the General Authority of Culture Palaces, adding that the festival, which lasted for 7 days, presents its activities in 13 villages and centers in Aswan Governorate.
It was attended by approximately 15,000 viewers- Egyptians and foreigners.
Atwa indicated that this year’s Edition was held in cooperation with; the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector headed by Sabry Saeed, the Artistic House of Folk and Performing Arts headed by Adel Abdo, and Touristic Promotion Authority headed by Amr El-Qadi and under the supervision of the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs headed by The artist Ahmed Al-Shafei.
In addition, Atwa confirmed that the festival this year witnessed the participation of 18 Troupes from 7Arab and foreign countries, namely: "Palestine, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mexico, Poland and Greece”.
Troupes from Egypt included: the folkloric troupes affiliated to the General Authority of Culture Palaces: “Aswan, Sohag, Minya, Port Said, Arish, Sharkia, Hurriya in Alexandria, Matrouh” for folk arts, and the “Toshka and Shalateen” spontaneous troupe.
The troupes also included " Rida Folklore Troupe and the National Folklore Troupe of the Artistc House of Folk and Performing Arts who took part in the event for the first time.
