Culture Minister Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, met with Christian Berger, Ambassador of European Union (EU) in Cairo, to explore areas of cooperation between the two sides in the cultural and artistic fields.
The meeting came as part of efforts to strengthen cultural relations and expand cooperation between Egypt and EU.
The discussion focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Egypt and EU countries, organizing several joint cultural and artistic events and activities, and intensifying collaboration in hosting joint festivals as well as preserving and documenting intangible heritage.
The meeting also touched on avenues for cooperation in offering specialized training workshops aimed at discovering and supporting talent in the cultural and artistic fields. This aligns with efforts to foster innovation and develop the artistic skills of young talents in Egypt, enhancing local capabilities and providing them with opportunities to engage with European culture.
In addition, Dr. Hanno emphasized the continuous efforts to strengthen cooperation with international partners, particularly the European Union, noting that the Ministry of Culture oversees hundreds of cultural palaces across Egypt, which form a vast cultural infrastructure.
He also noted that the ministry aims to develop this infrastructure through international partnerships to deliver distinguished cultural services, decentralizing cultural production from Cairo to achieve cultural equity.
For his part, EU Ambassador affirmed that the European Union places great importance on supporting cultural development in Egypt.
Moreover, he stressed the goal of deepening the partnership with the Ministry of Culture by offering training programs and workshops that support talents, which in turn promote cultural exchange between Egypt and the EU and enhance the capacities of cultural institutions.
