Culture Min. Receives French Senator Delegation

The artist, Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem Minister of Culture, received a French Senator delegation to discuss ways to support and strengthen the strategic partnership, artistically and intellectually as well as holding joint theater production project.

The delegation from France included: Mrs. Catherine Maureen Desailly- a member of the French Senate and President of the Egyptian-French Friendship Association and Head of the Committee for Culture, Tourism and Heritage in Normandy, accompanied by Marc Baretti, Ambassador of France to Egypt, Christine Dorville, Deputy Director General of the Normandy region and responsible for Training, Culture, Youth and Sports, David Regner, Cultural Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy, Raphael Girard, Director of the Riv gauche theater.

 

The two sides aim to enhance ways to support joint cooperation and strengthen the strategic partnership in various cultural, artistic and heritage fields.

 

The meeting dealt with discussing several joint cultural and artistic projects, as the French side requested to present a theatrical performance based on the novel of the French writer Gustave Flaubert-" A Journey in the East".

 

During the meeting, Abdel Dayem praised the strength and durability of the ties between the two countries and the permanent cooperation between them in the cultural and artistic fields over the past decades, including the Egyptian-French Year of Culture 2019.

She pointed out to the distinctive character of French creativity in its various forms, adding that the two sides agreed to start studying and preparing a set of intellectual projects. She also stressed that soft power plays an important role in deepening the bonds of friendship between peoples and expressing the creative reality of various societies.

 

On her part, Catherine Morin said that the Egyptian civilization is characterized by plurality and persity, stressing that it played an influential role in the formation of the cultures of various societies of the two countries.

 

At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged souvenirs that express the cultural heritage of Egypt and France.
