Ministry of Culture to Honor Mahmoud Reda

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, said that the artist Mahmoud Reda is one of the pillars of Egypt's soft power and one of the most important artistic myths who added an inspiring richness to the history of Egyptian folkloric arts in the twentieth century.

Abdel Dayem added that his creative genius contributed to the development of folkloric art transmitting it from the local community to the international level.

In the same context, Abdel Dayem emphasized that Reda was keen to show the Egyptian identity in its best form through "Reda Folklore Troupe" - under his supervision and management.

It is worthy of note that this festivity comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture strategy to honor the symbols of Egyptian creativity and to discover new talented generation, giving a model for success.

This festivity will be presented on Sunday 20 September at Al- Balloon Theater.

The event will be organized by the cultural production sector, headed by the artist Khaled Jalal - represented by the Artistic House of Folklore and Performing Arts headed by the artist Adel Abdo.

The celebration includes delivering a speech by the Minister of Culture, followed by presenting many different artistic performances in addition to inaugurating an important paintings exhibition designed by the artist Mahmoud Reda.

The designs include the paintings of his movies and folkloric tableaus.

The festivity will be animated by the following singers: artist Mohamed El Helou , Mai Farouk and written by Medhat Al Adl, composed by Salah Al-Sharnoubi and accompanied by a performance by Reda's Troupe.

The celebration will include screening of a documentary film entitled "Mahmoud Reda History in Love with Egypt".

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Culture issued a memorial book for this occasion including words of Mahmoud Reda to: the Minister of Culture, the artist Khaled Jalal, the artist Adel Abdo, the artist Farida Fahmy, the doctor Ashraf Zaki, the artist Muhammad Sobhi, the doctor Ismat Yahya, the doctor Magdy Saber, the artist Al-Jeddawi Ramadan The artist, Nabil Mabrouk, the artist Ali El-Gendy, the artist Saif Abdel-Rahman, the artist Mohy Ismail, Dr. Hamoud Saloumitia.

Reda was born in 1930 in Cairo; he graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University in 1954. He founded Reda Troupe for Folkloric Arts with his late brother Ali Reda.

He developed many designs for the performances that presented the troupe to the world. He participated in a number of cinematic works presented by Reda troupe and others, touring the villages of Egypt in order to convey a clear image of the customs and traditions in the various governorates of Egypt.
