English actor Colin Firth has signed on to star alongside Olivia Colman and Micheal Ward in the movie "Empire of Light".
The movie also stars Toby Jones, Crystal Clarke, and Tanya Moodie and arrives from Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes.
Despite the Searchlight Pictures movie is being kept under wraps, it is billed as a love story set in and around a beautiful old cinema on the South Coast of England in the 1980s.
Mendes penned the script in his first solo outing and will produce along with Pippa Harris for Neal Street Productions. The movie is lensed by Mendes’ longtime collaborator Roger Deakins and is scheduled to debut next fall.
Firth recently starred opposite Colman in Eva Husson’s Sony Pictures Classics drama, "Mothering Sunday".
The actor will next be seen in John Madden’s WWII drama "Operation Mincemeat" and the HBO Max series "The Staircase".
