Cole Sprouse, Penelope Ann Miller, Chris Parnell, Nelson Franklin, Riki Lindhome and Michael Learned have signed on to star in the independent dramedy film "Wake", directed by Devon M. Schwartz.
The pic follows four semi-estranged siblings who reunite for their father’s wake, only to clash with his overbearing side of the family in a tug-of-war over how to say goodbye. As oblivious guests and a death-phobic funeral director add to the chaos, they fumble into an absurd new reality – one that, maybe, just maybe, could bring them closer together.
Ali Gallo and Sasha Compère will also appear in the film, production on which has begun in Los Angeles.
Schwartz co-wrote the screenplay with Kelly O’Malley (A Light in Dark Places), who both stars in and produces the film.
"Wake" is also produced by Michel Rangel and Eugenio Villamar with Ale Fips serving as co-producer. Sprouse serves as executive producer. Casting was led by Amey René. Arturo Cardelús (Descendants, Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles), composed the score.
The independent production is supported by the California Film & Television Tax Credit Program. "Wake" is slated for a festival run and release in 2026.
