Cairo International Film Festival, chaired by the veteran actor Hussein Fahmy, will return with the 45th edition on November 13. The activities of the festival will last until November 22.
The 45th was supposed to take place last year, but it was canceled after a decision of the Minister of Culture, Nevin Al-Kilani, due to the tragic events against the Palestinians in Gaza.
The festival also announced the new lineup of its technical office, appointing film critic Essam Zakaria as the director of the festival.
Issam Zakaria is a film critic, researcher, and translator of many film books. He also works in various festivals.
Zakaria has held several positions, including the head of the Ismailia Documentary and Short Film Festival since 2017.
Registration for filmmakers who want to participate in the festival will kick off on May 1 until August 1, through the festival’s official website www.ciff.org.eg
