The Cairo International Book Fair, in its 57th edition, discussed the importance of Arab libraries and information institutions in supporting cultural and digital initiatives during a seminar held at the International Hall titled “The Role of Arab Libraries and Information Institutions in Supporting Cultural and Digital Initiatives.”
The seminar was moderated by Professor Emad Issa Saleh, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, and featured Ambassador Reda El-Taify, Director of the Egypt Public Libraries Fund; Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage in the United Arab Emirates; Dr. Intissar Saghiroun, expert at the Arab Manuscripts Institute of the League of Arab States; and Dr. Abeer Sobhi, Director of the Strategic Studies Center at Egypt’s Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center.
Participants stressed the need to expand advanced library services, support digital transformation, and preserve Arab and Islamic heritage through the digitization of manuscripts and historical documents. They also highlighted the importance of promoting cultural equity and widening access to knowledge to build a sustainable, knowledge-based society in line with contemporary digital transformations
