The release date for US actor Chris Pratt and Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson's sci-fi thriller "Mercy" has been revealed.
Amazon MGM Studios will release the pic in theaters on August 15, 2025.
"Wanted" director Timur Bekmambetov will helm the pic from a script by Marco van Belle.
Pratt stars as a detective in the thriller set in the near future when capital crime is on the rise and he finds himself accused of a violent crime and having to prove his innocence.
"Oppenheimer" producer Charles Roven brought the project to Amazon MGM Studios and will produce Mercy with Robert Amidon at Atlas Entertainment, Bekmambetov and his BEL banner and Majd Nassif.
The movie is set to start shooting this spring.
After e-commerce giant Amazon acquired MGM Studios for $8.45 billion, the Amazon MGM Studios banner launched a major push into theatrical movies as MGM — home of big screen franchises like the James Bond series — remind in the movie making business.
Amazon was signaling it had every intention of mining the resources of MGM to exploit the financial opportunities by giving a movie a release in theaters around the globe.
