Chloë Grace Moretz and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have signed on to star in the thriller movie "White Night".

The movie is based on Deborah Layton’s memoir "Seductive Poison" and centered around one of the most infamous cult stories, the Jonestown Massacre.

Filmmaker Anne Sewitsky is directing from a script adapted by William Wheeler.

The movie depicts how Layton (played by Grace Moretz) rose through the ranks of the People’s Temple cult, entering the inner circle of Christian Socialist preacher Jim Jones (Gordon-Levitt).

Jones established Jonestown in 1974 in Guyana as an extension of his San Francisco-based cult.

The settlement became globally known following the death of 900 people on November 18, 1978. The massacre was one of the largest mass murder-suicides in American history.

The book was optioned by Amy Nauiokas and Anne Carey at Archer Gray. The duo will produce the movie alongside with FilmNation, which is also financing and will launch sales at the virtual European Film Market.

Production begins this spring.
