Chloë Grace Moretz will star alongside the Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer in "Oh. What. Fun", a holiday comedy from Amazon MGM.

The pic is described as both a love letter to moms and tonally a cross between Home for the Holidays and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

In the movie, Pfeiffer plays Claire Clauster, who organizes a special Christmas outing when her family forgets her in the shuffle. By the time they realize their mistake, she’s gone missing and their Christmas is in jeopardy. Luckily, nothing will stop Claire from giving her family the holiday they deserve.

Michael Showalter, who is behind the studio’s upcoming Anne Hathaway romantic drama The Idea of You, directs from the pic from a script he co-wrote alongside Chandler Baker. Dominic Sessa also stars.

"Oh. What. Fun" is based on a short story from the latter that was originally published by Amazon Original Stories.

Producers on the project include Showalter and Jordana Mollick via Semi-Formal Productions (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, The Dropout), as well as Tribeca Productions’ Berry Welsh & Jane Rosenthal (The Irishman), and Kate Churchill (Amazon’s upcoming Holland, Michigan). Baker will serve as executive producer.

While the studio did not share details on the roles of Grace Moretz and Sessa, sources say the duo will play two of the woman’s grown children.

The movie is set to begin production in late May in Atlanta.

Moretz recently starred in Amazon’s sci-fi thriller series "The Peripheral" as well as the sci-fi thriller "Mother/Android" directed by Mattson Tomlin.
