Chinese Ambassador Says Cairo-Beijing Ties at "Golden Age"

Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang said on Sunday that The bilateral ties between Egypt and China are at a "golden age".

Addressing a press conference held at the Chinese embassy in Cairo, Liao added that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Cairo and Beijing has seen tremendous development in recent years, thanks to the good relations between both countries' leaders, and the frequent exchange of high-level visits.

In 2014, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi paid his first official visit to China, where he agreed with his Chinese counterpart to upgrade bilateral relations between the two states to a higher level, according to the ambassador.

He added that El-Sisi has been keen to visit China every year to attend various occasions over  6 consecutive years, stressing that the two presidents are always exchanging messages and congratulations on various occasions.

Moreover, the Chinese diplomat pointed out that the Belt and Road initiative closely fits Egypt's vision 2030, a matter which significantly reflected in achieving joint coordination in facing the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, Liao said that he is always keen to communicate with Egyptian journalists to enhance friendship between the Egyptian and Chinese peoples, noting that the embassy held 14 press conferences since the beginning of the Corona crisis.
