On the 15th of May, I took part at the conference of the Asian civilization that was held at Beijing, the capital city of China.

Around 1500 experts came from all over the world to participate in that parley. Among those experts, were heads of states and high-profile government representatives.

The conference sought to bolster dialogue among cultures in the light of “Constructing Common Futures  of the Asian Society”.

The conference was an occasion to meet a big number of scholars and intellectuals from all parts of the globe.

A forum about terrorism and its effects on the dialogue between civilizations of nations was launched on the sidelines of the conference.

The experts discussed how any state could avoid the complicated challenges linked to terrorism and extremism.

They also touched how China succeeded in achieving peaceful co-existence between various religions and nationalities; China is a home to 1.4 billion people who belong to 56 nationalities.

A foreign friend, who has been residing in China since 10 years, said that he saw how the Chinese nationals practice their religious beliefs. He affirmed that they have the full liberty to opt their beliefs.

However, he added that China faces problems such as terrorism and extremism which hinder development, prosperity and survival, adding that the Chinese government has introduced solutions in Xinjiang, in the western part of the country.

The conference tackled the “ White Book on fighting terrorism, extremism and defending human rights in Xinjiang; the book was issued by the  Information Bureau affiliated to the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

The White Book

The book includes seven main chapters:

- Xinjiang is an inseparable part of the Chinese territories.

- The origin of terrorism and extremism in Xinjiang.

-Violent terrorism and religious extremism are major violation of human rights.

-Fighting terrorism and extremism were implemented within law restrictions

- Preventive method to fight terrorism was prioritized.

-Searching for an experiment to fight terrorism and eradicate extremism.

-International cooperation to fight terrorism.

Xinjiang

It is worth to mention that Xinjiang is an autonomous area in China, which is inhabited mainly by Muslims.

It is one of the important border areas in the north west of China.

It houses 24,400 mosques, so there is a mosque for 530 Muslims.

The regional government of Xinjiang has constructed centers for schooling and vocational training, as a preventive procedure to rehabilitate those who have been affected by terrorism and extremism to restore them to the right path.

Those undergoing rehabilitation gained skills to support themselves.
