China Bans Dual-Use Exports to 14 EU Companies

China has banned exports of dual-use goods to 14 European Union companies, citing national security concerns in a move that escalates trade tensions with the bloc.

The restrictions came a day after the EU imposed export controls on 51 additional entities, including companies in China and Hong Kong, over allegations they supported Russia's war in Ukraine.

China's Commerce Ministry said the affected firms had been added to its export control list, prohibiting the export of products with both civilian and military applications. The ban also prevents overseas organizations and individuals from supplying the listed companies with Chinese-origin dual-use materials.

The companies affected include Italy's Lafert Group, Germany's Rheinmetall, Dutch shipbuilder IHC and Czech military vehicle manufacturer Tatra Trucks.
