Egyptian actors and comedians Chico and Hesham Maged's play "Al Baqa lil Asya" will be staged from January 12-16 at Mohammed Alali Theater in Boulevard Riyadh City.
The cast also stars Mai Kassab, Marwa Anwar, Mohamed Osama, famously known as "Osos", Ahmed Fathy, and more.
"Al Baqa lil Asya" is set to debut within the activities of the 5th edition of the Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.
In a comedic setting, the play follows "an Egyptian space expedition launched after Earth's resources have dwindled. As they explore new habitable planets, they encounter strange laws and customs that ultimately reveal the impossibility of finding an alternative home for humanity."
This is not the first collaboration between the duo.
During university, Chico created the Tamr Hendi production company with Maged and Ahmed Fahmy, which produced films that ridiculed famous Egyptian films.
They created the film “Men who do not know the Impossible”, a project that attracted the attention of Mohamed Hefzy, who at the time was trying his hand at production.
Hefzy produced their first TV series “Afeesh wa Tashbeeh” that cynically tackled Egyptian classics in each episode.
He also produced the trio's 2008 film "Waraqat Shifra" which was a big hit at the box office.
They also collaborated on the films "Hamlet Freezer" (2016), "El Harb El A'lameya El Talta" (2014), "Banat ElA'm" (2012), and "Samir, Shahir and Bahir" (2010).
In 2020, the duo also starred in the hit TV series "The Game", which renewed for three seasons.
Chico and Maged last collaborated together in the 2023 play “Ala Wadaa Al Tayara”.
The cast also includes Shimaa Seif, Mohamed Salam, Rahma Ahmed, and Mustafa Gharib.
“Ala Wadaa Al Tayara” will be hosted from May 25 to May 29 at the Mohammed Al-Ali Theater in Boulevard Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia.
The play takes place on a plane heading from Cairo to Istanbul, boarding all kinds of people, each of whom travels for a reason. However, things change when a hijacker seeks revenge on the passengers.
