American actor Channing Tatum has signed on to star in the spy thriller movie "Red Shirt", which is based on an original pitch from Simon Kinberg with David Leitch directing.
Details are under warp except that it is a new spin on James Bond that has franchise potential.
Kelly McCormick and Leitch are producing under their 87 North production banner, Tatum is producing through his company Free Association, and Kinberg is producing through his Genre Films.
Tatum is having himself quite a big year starting with his MGM movie "Dog", which became one of the first breakthrough box-office hits making $84 million globally on a $15 million budget.
He followed that up with the Paramount adventure rom-com "The Lost City", which also starred Sandra Bullock.
The movie grossed $100 million at the U.S box office, becoming one of the more popular romcoms in recent years.
Lost City grossed $200 million globally while Dog earned $84 million on a $15 million budget.
