“Roofman,” a drama feature starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst, will open in theaters next fall.

Paramount is distributing the movie, which is scheduled for October 3, 2025.

Derek Cianfrance (“Blue Valentine”) is directing “Roofman” from a script he co-wrote with Kirk Gunn.

Based on a true story, the film follows Tatum as a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname “Roofman.” After escaping from prison, he starts a new life while hiding in a toy store, falling in love with a single mother (Dunst) and her two daughters. However, his criminal past and a final robbery threaten to destroy his chance at redemption. Peter Dinklage rounds out the cast.

Producers on “Roofman” are Lynette Howell Taylor, Jamie Patricof, Duncan Montgomery, and Dylan Sellers.

The pic was acquired by Miramax for certain territories, including the United States, and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures as part of a first look deal between the two companies.

Cianfrance is best known for “Blue Valentine,” “The Place Beyond the Pines” and “The Light Between Oceans.”

He recently directed the HBO miniseries “I Know This Much Is True,” starring Mark Ruffalo as identical twin brothers.

Dunst starred in this year’s dystopian drama “Civil War,” which grossed $126 million at the global box office.

Tatum has been busy, too, appearing in “Deadpool & Wolverine” as Gambit, as well as space-set romantic comedy “Fly Me to the Moon" and psychological thriller “Blink Twice,”.
