Céline Dion and Lady Gaga will perform Édith Piaf’s classic “La Vie en Rose” at the Olympics‘ opening ceremony in Paris on Friday, French journalist Thierry Moreau announced on X.
The ceremony, which will take place outside of a stadium for the first time in history, will showcase Paris’ iconic locations and bring together 3,500 actors, dancers, and musical performers.
Aside from French singer Aya Nakamura, the lineup of performers set to take the stage on the River Seine is under wraps. Other rumored performers include Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande.
Rumors increased earlier this week after Gaga and Dion were spotted arriving in Paris ahead of the Olympics, a global multisport competition.
Dion, whose life has been severely impacted by stiff person syndrome, has not performed in four years but has often spoken about her determination to get back on stage in the future.
The Canadian icon was seen in videos posted on social media smiling and walking in the streets of France’s capital on Tuesday.
This followed sightings of Gaga on Monday, including social media videos of her waving to fans outside her car in the capital.
Dion is no stranger to the Olympics. She kicked off the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, singing “The Power of the Dream.”
The ceremony was watched by a record 3.5 billion people around the world.
The famed singer also recently voiced a video for Canadian Olympians called “L’invincible Courage,” along with Michael J. Fox.
Rumors that Dion was gearing up for an Olympics comeback have swirled ever since she appeared on the cover of French Vogue in April.
In her cover interview, the legend’s first performance revealed she had undergone a grueling physical fitness program to regain her strength and health.
“I want to be my best self. I want to see the Eiffel Tower again,” she said.
Rumors stirred again in June when Dion was spotted in New York sporting a T-shirt bearing the slogan Celine Paris.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics will air on NBC beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET Friday and stream on Peacock and NBC Olympics platforms.
