WestEnd Films is handling world sales and will reveal first footage to buyers in Cannes.
Inspired by Welsh poet and author Dylan Thomas’ much-loved short story, the film follows a young boy sent to spend one summer with his charismatic and wildly eccentric grandfather on a remote Welsh farm. Expecting dull days and strict rules, the boy instead stumbles into a world of delightful chaos and imagination – where outrageous stories are spun, and a world of wonder, memory and mischief unfolds.
The film is produced by Huw Penallt Jones with Hannah Leader and Amory Leader. It is a European co-production with Adler Entertainment and U-Media.
Key crew members include director of photography Gavin Struthers, production designer Tom Pearce, costume designer Tina Kalivas, and hair and makeup designer Deb Kenton.
WestEnd’s Cannes lineup includes “Margot & Rudi,” a romantic drama directed by Anthony Fabian and starring Naomi Watts; “The Last Day” by Rachel Rose, starring Alicia Vikander and Wagner Moura; “Scorpion,” an action thriller with Alex Pettyfer and Clive Owen; British comedy “Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint,” starring John Bradley, Celia Imrie and Richard E. Grant; and “Unspeakable,” the horror from Corinna Faith, starring Eliza Scanlen and Essie Davis.
