Cardi B has once again filed for divorce from Offset after seven years of marriage.
She filed on Wednesday, requesting primary custody of their 5-year-old daughter Kulture and 2-year-old son Wave.
The “WAP” artist's rep said the divorce filing “is not based on any one particular incident, it has been a long time coming and is amicable.”
Cardi shared Thursday some happier news on Instagram, posting two photos of a new baby bump and writing a message to her unborn third child thanking them for “more love, more life and most of all [renewing] my power!”.
She may have referenced the divorce filing in the caption too, writing, “With every ending comes a new beginning!”.
The divorce news marks the second time Cardi has called for a divorce from Offset since they tied the knot in 2017.
She previously filed to legally end their marriage in September 2020, explaining to fans at the time that it wasn’t “because of cheating” — although their relationship has been wrought with infidelity rumors on the Migos rapper’s end since nearly the beginning.
“I just got tired of f—ing arguing,” Cardi added at the time. “I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye.”
Within a month, however, the Bodak Yellow" rapper revealed that she and Offset had sorted things out, and the case was dismissed in the early days of November 2020.
“It’s hard not to talk to your best friend,” she said on Instagram Live of the rekindling. “It’s really hard not to talk to your best friend. And it’s really hard to have no di–.”
Over the next four years, their romance survived a few more rough patches — more cheating rumors, plus a social media squabble between the spouses — before Cardi finally confirmed that they had split once more.
“I’ve been single for a minute now,” she said on Live in December 2023.
Fans have been hopeful these past few months, however, that the hip-hop titans were again smoothing things over.
The couple spent New Year’s together, and Offset directed Cardi’s “Like What (Freestyle)” music video in March; plus, they were spotted on a date at a New York Knicks game in April before the “I Like It” musician thanked her estranged husband for showering her with Mother’s Day gifts in May.
Cardi has been the first to admit that her relationship with Offset has always been complicated, telling Rolling Stone in May, “We’re best friends … It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”.
