Marvel Studios has added "Moon Knight" screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of “Captain America: Brave New World”, ahead of plans for additional photography sometime in the spring.

The Walt Disney Company announced a slew of delays to its theatrical release slate shortly after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Along with “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts” and “Blade”, “Brave New World” was among the group of Marvel productions impacted, moving from a July 26, 2024 date to February 14, 2025.

That’s almost seven more months for the studio to work on the fourth entry in the Captain America franchise, which had already completed principal photography before the actors strike.

Reshoots are a commonplace practice for blockbuster tentpoles, particularly Marvel productions.

Orton’s previous credits include the World War II thriller “Operation Finale” and TV work on “Devil’s Peak” and “Moon Knight”.

Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman have screenplay credits on “Brave New World”; both writers worked on another Marvel streaming series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which ended with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America.

Plans for a fourth “Captain America” movie with Mackie as the lead were announced in the months after.

Alongside Mackie, the “Brave New World” cast also includes Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, taking the role of the late William Hurt.

Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson also reprise their roles from “The Incredible Hulk”, while Shira Haas and Danny Ramirez join the cast. Julius Onah is directing.
