Netflix has unveiled the official teaser for the action-comedy movie "Back in Action," starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx.
The project marks the third collaboration between the pair after 1999’s sports drama “Any Given Sunday” and 2014’s “Annie” remake, which was Diaz’s final film role before retiring.
It follows Matt and Emily, former CIA agents living a comfortable home life after giving up the world of espionage to spend time with their family. However, when their cover is blown, the duo is forced to return to their former life.
The star-studded cast includes Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson.
Baywatch director Seth Gordon is directing the movie from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien.
Foxx is executive producing “Back in Action” alongside Datari Turner, O’Brien, and Mark McNair. Producers are Beau Bauman for Good One Productions and Gordon via Exhibit A.
Diaz has been attached to the movie since 2022 after being persuaded by Foxx to return to acting. Filming took place from December 2022 to April 2023.
In April, principal photography was suspended when Foxx suffered a serious and undisclosed health scare, leading to "Back in Action" using body doubles in Foxx's place to shoot the remainder of his scenes. Foxx has since made a full recovery.
Diaz was one of the most bankable stars in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She rose to stardom after making her film debut in 1994’s “The Mask” opposite Jim Carrey.
The Hollywood star later starred in a string of successful romantic comedies such as “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “There’s Something About Mary”, "The Holiday", "The Other Woman", "The Sweetest Thing", and “Shrek”.
Diaz retired from acting in March 2018 to spend more time at home as she did not plan to make any more movies, as well as wished to be with her family.
She is also filming the black comedy movie "Outcome", which stars Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill, who also directs and produces the project.
Diaz will also return to voice acting for the upcoming animated sequel “Shrek 5.”
"Back in Action" opens in theaters on November 15 on Netflix.
