The Cairo Opera House is set to host a "Rebetiko Music in Egypt" concert in cooperation with Greece's embassy in Cairo and the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector at the Ministry of Culture.
The concert is a part of the Ministry of Culture's efforts to build communication bridges with countries worldwide. Singers Zacharia Karonis, Saveria Mariola, and Denia Korosi will perform alongside an orchestra of ten musicians under the supervision of Thomas Constantinou.
The concert will take place at the Republic Theater on Monday, April 17 at 7 pm. The program will include rebetiko music, which is a symbolic, ideological, and artistic style of Greek folk music. In 2017, UNESCO included rebetiko music on the representative list of Greek intangible cultural heritage.
