Cairo Joins Global Celebration of Russian Alexander Pushkin

Many countries around the world, including Egypt and Russia, celebrated the birth anniversary of the prominent Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, which also falls on Russian Language Day.

The Russian Culture Center in Cairo, headed by Murat Gatin, celebrated the memory of the great poet by visiting his statue at Al Horreya Garden in Cairo and laying flowers in front of it.

Gatin expressed his thanks to the Egyptians who have all the love and appreciation for Russian culture and the Russians.

He pointed out that the celebration of the great poet Pushkin is not only a Russian initiative but also there is an initiative of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to celebrate the poet.

Moreover, the students of the Russian Language Department at Cairo University and the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University presented a collection of Pushkin's poems in the Russian language.

Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities stressed that Egyptian-Russian relations are based on a golden age of cooperation as Russia is the only country that participated in building 97 projects with Egypt.

In addition, Denis Bronnikov, Director of Russian Language Courses at the Russian Culture Center in Cairo, inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled "Traveling Inside Moscow with the Heroes of the Novel 'Eugene Onegin'."

The Russian Culture Center also held several lectures on lessons learned from the history of the great poet and his literary creativity.
